Mourinho Makes History At Manchester United After Winning Europa League

Image
Jose Mourinho has made history by becoming the first manager to win both the Champions League and the Europa League more than once. Manchester United defeated Ajax 2-0 in Sweden on Wednesday, thanks to goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, meaning Mourinho has officially made history. The Portuguese won both the UEFA Cup - now known as the Europa League - and the Champions League with FC Porto, and also won Europe's premier trophy with Inter Milan. Now at United, Mourinho lifted the secondary trophy at the Friends Arena this week, entering the history books in the process.     By virtue of their victory over the young Dutch side, United have qualified for next season's Champions League and they will go straight into the group stages. The club finished sixth in the Premier League this season, but Mourinho will hope to lift more silverware next season, both domestically and in Europe.

Saraki Sends Team To Borno State Over Ndume's Suspension

Image
Former Senate Leader Ali Ndume has refused to apologise to the Senate as a precondition for his recall from suspension. It was learnt that his refusal prompted Senate President Bukola Saraki to raise a five-man committee to brief Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima on Ndume’s fate. Saraki named Senate Deputy Whip Francis Alimikhena as leader of the delegation. Many leaders in Borno, Ndume’s home state, are angry with the Senate for not revisiting the suspension. Ndume was suspended on March 29 for six months, leaving Borno South Senatorial District without representation in the Red Chamber. The governor, representatives of all the Emirs from Borno State and a delegation from Gwoza Local Government Area, met with the Senate leadership and individual senators to review the suspension. A source privy to the talks with the Senate leadership said: “The governor, the Emirs and our leaders have had audience with the key figures in the Senate but they gave us only a condition t

Mourinho Bets House On Winning Europa

Image
Though he denies it, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has gambled the club’s season on the outcome of Wednesday’s Europa League final against Ajax in Stockholm.  Mourinho Having missed out on Champions League qualification via the Premier League, United must beat Ajax at the Friends Arena to secure a return to Europe’s elite competition. Mourinho has made his priorities clear in recent weeks by resting players for league fixtures, but he claims United’s injury problems left him with no choice. “It was not a gamble.  It was a simple decision,” said Mourinho, who picked a team with an average age of 22 years and 284 days for Sunday’s season-ending 2-0 home win over Crystal Palace. “When we lost players in a period of 17 matches in seven weeks, it was the impossible job.  It was not a gamble, just a consequence of our situation.” Mourinho won the UEFA Cup, as the Europa League was previously known, with Porto in 2003, but the two-time Champions League winner has been publi

Pastor Calls God On Phone During Service

Image
Controversial pastor Paul Sanyangore A Zimbabwean pastor, Paul Sanyangore, has introduced a new dimension to televangelism. In a widely televised church service, Sanyangore had called a number on his phone. The line was obviously picked up at the other end, and the pastor engaged in the heavenly conversation as follows, while the seeker, a woman, kneels before him: Pastor Sanyangore: “Hallo! Is this heaven? I have a woman here, what do you have to say about her?” The phone isn’t on speaker mode, but the pastor delivers on whatever the receiver at the other end says. Continuing, Sanyangore says, “Oh, I should ask her who is Sibou, Sibou?” The woman gives a response. The phone call continues: “What else, Papa God?” Papa God seems to have responded promptly as the pastor says: “God is telling me to ask you why is it you showing me a heart?” (sic) The woman gives an answer; the congregation cheers and the phone call with Papa God contin

What The Quack Doctor That Administered Banned Drugs For Adeleke Has To Say At The Coroner

Image
The above photo is Alfred Aderibigbe, the health assistant who allegedly administered some injections on Senator Isiaka Adeleke shortly before his death on 23 April. We had reported earlier that while testifying before the coroner, as ordered by Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Thursday, Alfred said that he has been administering injections on the late lawmaker for a long time. He said he met Adeleke over 20 years ago while working at the State Hospital, Ede, when he treated a girl who was rushed to the facility because of convulsion. Aderibigbe added, “After a while, I started treating him (medically). Whenever he was given prescription and he probably didn’t complete his treatment in Abuja, I would administer the remaining. He had other nurses in Abuja, and some in Lagos. “I’m his nurse in Ede. Unbelievable Donald Trump To Visit Saudi Arabia For His First Foreign Trip Since Becoming President

Image
Does Donald Trump have an ounce of shame? Mehdi Hasan writes As a presidential candidate, he spent much of the election campaign needling, critiquing, denouncing, and even threatening the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Yet as president, he is making his first foreign visit this weekend to … the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Even by Trumpian standards, the volte-face is brazen. In his first few months in power, we have witnessed the trademark Trump Turnabout on issues ranging from  NATO  to  China  to the  Export-Import Bank . We have listened to him go from  praising Bashar al-Assad  and  rebuking Janet Yellen  on the campaign trail, to praising Yellen  and  rebuking Assad  in office. Last October, he  said  that then-FBI Director James Comey had “guts” for doing “the right thing”; last week, he sacked Comey and  called  him a “showboat” and a “grandstander.” Trump, to put it mildly, is no stranger to the shameless U-turn. Still, the Trump Turnabout on Saudi Arabia — one of America’s c
