According to the latest plans, the breakdown will be: UEFA (Europe): 16 slots CONCACAF (North, Central America+Caribbean): 6 slots CONMEBOL (South America): 6 slots AFC (Asia): 8 slots CAF (Africa): 9 slots OFC (Oceania): 1 slot That's 46 total. The remaining 2 will be decided by a 6 team playoff, 1 team per confederation except UEFA. Host country confederation gets 2 slots (What happens when UEFA is the host?  In the playoffs, the two top-ranked FIFA teams will play the winners of the knockout games among the 4 others. The first playoff will be in November 2025.

Senate suspends Ndume for 6 months, clears Saraki, Melaye …Summons Sagay for insulting senators …Mixed reactions trail face-off—THE battle of wits between the Presidency and the Senate took a new twist, yesterday, as the Senate summoned the Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption, Professor Itse Sagay, SAN, for describing the lawmakers’ actions as childish and irresponsible. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara; Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and President Muhammadu Buhari The Senate asked Professor Sagay to appear before the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, led by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, PDP, Imo East, to clear himself of the allegation and explain why he insulted the Senate as an institution.  The Nigerian Senate has suspended former majority leader Ali Ndume for six months for bringing unproven allegations against his colleagues Senator Dino Melaye and Senate President Bukola Saraki. Ali Ndume has now been suspended from his legislative duties for the next six months. We gathered that the move is one of the recommendations of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges which probed the allegations of certificate forgery against Melaye and avenging of seized bulletproof Range Rover against Saraki. Tendering the report for approval before the senators on Wednesday, March 29, Senator Sam Nwanyanwu said the allegations brought against the two senators by Ndume were false after due investigation.  The report, which was signed by two-thirds of the committee, cleared Saraki and Melaye of any wrongdoing but suspended Ndume for failing to conduct proper investigation before making the allegations. According to the committee, Ndume was the one that dragged Saraki's name

A haulage driver named Ojo Aloba has stated that he was hauling the Range Rover imported for use by Senate President Bukola Saraki before officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) intercepted and seized the vehicle. In addition to seizing the Range Rover, reportedly for irregularities related to the use of fake documents to significantly reduce the import duty for the car, the customs officers also impounded Mr. Aloba’s haulage truck. Mr. Aloba, who owned up that he was the designated driver transporting the controversial armored Range Rover car, told a correspondent of SaharaReporters that he picked up the car from Mr. Saraki’s residence in Ikoyi and commenced its haulage to Abuja. According to him, it was in the process of conveying the vehicle to Abuja that customs officers seized the Range Rover at Ore Road, Ogun State. Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has denied ever diverting N19 billing Paris Club refund, as being alleged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Saraki in a statement through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, disclosed that the leaked report orchestrated by EFCC as it concerns the payment of the Paris Club Fund refund to the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, was false. The statement reads; “Let us first state that these allegations are not new. The EFCC had from the onset of its investigation into the Paris Club refund made attempts to drag in the name of Dr. Saraki and we have promptly denied any such involvement of the Senate President. “In fact, the EFCC itself came out to deny the report as it then said it had nothing to indict the Senate President.
