BASED ON LOGISTICS: THE DEAD PHARAOH RESURRECTS SOMEWHERE IN NIGERIA
More or less like a dictator, we are fooled with a pseudo-democracy, i thought the masses (citizens) have rights and autonomy to participate in the affairs of the government.
But does democracy still simply mean government of the people, by the people and for the people? Or perhaps it's no more in its complete sense and therefore can't give what's expected of.
Normally, democracy is known to be a system adopted by most countries in the world as it is a system that protects the rights of the citizens, gives room for accountability and gives room to a collective decision with everyone's interest represented.
I think democracy system is one where there is a free and fair election, everyone is equal before the law, irrespective of status or position, elected are accountable to the electorates who voted them in and the law is the greatest authority.
Basically, it seems the rule of law was the point that was missing during the military era and other authoritarian systems where rulers have little or no regard for the lives of the people they govern. So we clamoured and welcomed democracy thinking it was going to give what we lacked in the past governments.
"Democracy has come to stay, now we'd have a government that'll want to care about the welfare of the citizens of the country" Nigerians said to themselves.
But albeit, earlier we have had several attempts to practice democracy, all efforts made was crucified and aborted and the early practiced democratic rule was so ephemeral, they didn't last long by various chaos and military coup de tat.
Verily, when we finally got the key to the lock of stable democracy era, we rejoiced, we celebrated with the ironical impression that democratic rule would be practised in the right way, like the rest of the world are practicing it, we felt we'd enjoy what we call the dividends of democracy.
But today this question arises, is it what we boast of as democracy worth the celebration or we should sit back at home and lick the wounds that this acclaimed "demo-crazy" had caused us?
This reminds me of the traditions of most Nigerians, as they take diamonds for granted and misuse golden opportunities when given. Thus, it is sad democracy now is in shamble, you have no freedom of expression the Big Brothers would hold you responsible for whatever you say or otherwise, give your lingua another semantics.
Justice is now on a permanent exile, the tier responsible to pronounce the said justice has been technically scraped out, they now follow orders given to them by their counterpart arm of government (executive and legislative), instead of preaching the constitution. So tell me where's the hope of/for a common man?
The funniest thing ever is that these abusers of Democratic rule are our people, fellow Nigerians (but senior citizens by chance), they blind folded us with false campaigns of true democracy, when they came to us, they vowed to practice what's expected, they promised to serve our interests, they pledged to be different from the authoritarians, therefore accepted not to give us discomfort. The reverse is the case today.
Now, they unfold the fold folding our sights, realizing everyone is now a sheep in their folds. Realizing we have made a business transaction in the deemed dark night, we're regretting because proverbially we gave them #1000 note and have in return three #50 note.
But no apologies to our state of ignorance and puerility, the tabula razza brain of ours cheated on us and made us believed three pieces of #50 notes is way bigger and better than a #1000 note we gave out to the political fraudsters, obviously because we saw a note in three pieces.
It's just so apparent that politicians and especially the elected, have little or no clue about what a true democracy is, All they know is how they illegally hijacked what we jointly have and make it theirs.
Democracy in Nigeria has since changed to the government of the politicians, by the politicians and for the politicians only. Just look around you and see. There is no manifestation of democracy on the faces of the masses, the have-nots, the down trodden, the masses despite the noises about democracy and its invincible dividends, they are still wallowing in abject poverty, squalor, hunger, disease, unemployment, and other nefarious man-made problems.
How else can one explain the bloated salaries allotted to the high ranking public officers and the servants are being owed many months of pay despite the meagre amount?
Even the educated ones among the masses, graduates of various fields of ten to twenty years in service aren’t even enjoying the dividend of the so called "demo-crazy". This is because the salaries of the so called educated men are struggling to meet up with the demands of the society.
Majority of government facilities enjoyed by the masses such as portable drinking water, electricity, good health care system, free education etc. are all a story of the past. The common man has even become his own government, providing power, security, water and so on by himself.
Now the Pharaoh has resurrected, commanding followers to eat but he doesn't provide any food, citizens are meant to dance without music, we are forced to pay and we don't own a penny, we are made under duress to sleep but we neither inherited mat nor we have what it takes to get a mattress.
It's well, so Pharaoh has now resurfaced and resurrected after years of disguise, somewhere in Nigeria. Don't ask me! Who's this Pharaoh?
Reviving the reminiscence of that memory of celebration galore. "Long live Ogbeni" we chanted. This was a beautiful memory anyways but in the blind spirit when we saw him as a God's sent, when we had no idea that he's far from being a Messiah but a sham. Ogbeni should be the incognito Khlestakov in Nikolai Gogol's Government Inspector.
This world of irony, appearance will continue to belie realities, this dude that preached the gospel of virtues and even changed the slogan to the "Home of the Virtues" was found with no modicum of virtuousness.
What's the virtuousness when Parents are home hopeless, Pensioners are on despair, children are hopeless, youths are jobless. But yet you still want to take from those that have not, you don't give them land to farm but you claim to have shares in their annual harvests. Is that possible?
Till you're responsible and your Pharaoh cares about what your subjects feed on, you can expect your entitlements (if at all there's any). Because we don't seem to understand an irresponsible and shameless government asking and threatening people to pay their taxes, someone who has no hope for breakfast? Someone who has no job? Someone who is suffering from health threatening diseases and has no money to take care of himself? Someone who you owe months of unpaid salaries? Someone who wakes up daily thinking of how to pay his debt and request for another...? Someone who's only covered with leather instead of shelter.
And stop embarrassing your subjects, STOP REMOVING SIGNPOSTS, Pharaoh why must they pay you before they erect their businesses signpost? stop collecting from who do not have, stop threatening people's lives, stop being irresponsible, stop making your subjects cry, stop closing their businesses, stop fooling your people. If you cannot do, stop messing around.
With all sincerity (no lies) tell the world your pride and achievements when your number one priority suffers like a market thief. Till this moment, we await the Moses that'd conquer the Pharaoh and all of his sycophantic team.
Hmmm.Bravo
