Kaduna State Government To Sack Teachers That Fail Competency Test

Teachers who failed competency test are irredeemable — Govt

Shehu Sani-Othman, Permanent Member II of the State Universal Basic Education Board and member of the committee that conducted the controversial competency test for primary school teachers in Kaduna State, tells GODWIN ISENYO why 21,780 teachers, who failed the test, must be sacked.

On the teachers he said:

In fact, sacking them (teachers) is the last option. You need to see the rigours of the training we gave these people. We did all we could. We employed the best lecturers from colleges of education, Gidan-waya and Zaria to assist us in training them. But the training has been going on and there is no impact. You can see that they could not even pass a Primary Four test. What kind of training do you expect us to give them again that would make any difference? I don’t think there is any training that we can give them. Training them is like wasting time, money and other resources. They are irredeemable!
